River Trails

Description

River Trails (Promise of a swift flyover) was the hero artwork to a collection of artworks inspired by Ballard’s local waterway, the Cooks River. It has often been a place where she collects her thoughts and centres her soul. There are many landscapes she imagines inspired by her walks along the river.

Ballard is fascinated by the impressions these trails leave upon us that we cannot see. In challenging times, the spaces around the natural environment around the river, is how Ballard learns ways to be resilient, flow with the tide, and grow toward the sunshine.

Like the swifts that fly over, this artwork is a colourful reminder that change is constant. That you can choose to focus on the dark or the light, but it is important to always keep flying on.
