Inspirations
Sydney Harbour is a stunner to all those who visit her but I think she really shows off in the summer time. Perhaps it’s her glorious tones or maybe it’s just that the locals get more time to enjoy her. She has always been a big influence for my love of water and I feel so lucky to have such a beautiful backyard to inspire me.
I am drawn to her vitality and many moods. Always awake, she is a natural gem that continues to sparkle. No stranger to a challenge, her tenacity to thrive is just one of her admirable traits I explore in my painting practice.
Tidal Treasures was a labour of love. Creating this felt like I was at back at the waters edge, listening to the waves lapping and transporting me to a golden day on the harbour.
Building up rich colour in my artworks is the result of multiple layers of thin oil pigments. Each layer helps develop the character of the last, helping the colours glow from within.
